Under the Supervision of a staff member, the intern will be supporting UN Environment – Country Office Brazil in the assistance of the Communication Team. More specifically, the job will entail the following tasks:
-Assist the Communication Focal Point in gathering information relevant to the Office Representative in the elaboration of documents and analysis;
-Collect background information and contribute to the preparation of reports, project documents and working papers namely in environment-related sectors;
-Under supervision of the Communication Focal Point, assist in maintain and regularly update the UN Environment Brazil website as well as the UN Environment Brazil social networks;
-Prepare drafts of documents, correspondence, general reports and overview registry for the Communication Focal Point;
-Support maintaining the office’s mailing list always updated;
-Support with Clipping;
-Assist on the implementation of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach;
-Support the contact with the media to generate proactive and positive news coverage;
-Facilitate knowledge building and knowledge sharing;
-Support the organization of workshops, seminars and missions, including travel arrangements and preparation of agendas;
-Help develop graphic materials, edit audio-visual content, prepare PowerPoint and Prezi presentations, and other related activities when required
-Assist on engaging in strategic communications planning and processes that support UN Environment mission, strengthen the visibility of the organization and raise public awareness on environmental issues;
-Assist in the organization of publications, data and files upon request;
-On a daily basis, screens incoming correspondence and telephone calls, draft routine correspondence (in Portuguese, English and Spanish) and takes appropriate follow-up action;
-Perform other clerical tasks as required.
-Support other activities of the Country Office as requested.
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
-Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
-English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, excellent writing and communication skills in English and Portuguese are required. Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable.
