Attention international researchers: We are hiring!!
The Canada 150 Research Chairs Program, announced in Budget 2017, invests $117.6 million to enhance Canada’s reputation as a global centre for science, research and innovation excellence, in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. It provides Canadian institutions with a one-time investment to attract top-tier, internationally based scholars and researchers to Canada. The non-renewable chairs are tenable for seven years at two values: $350,000 per year and $1 million per year.
- The Canada 150 Research Chairs Program is open to top-tier international scholars and researchers, including Canadian expatriates, from across all disciplines.
- The Government of Canada wants to leverage Canada’s strengths as a destination of choice for the best and brightest world-leading scholars and researchers.
- The Canada 150 Research Chairs call for applications closes September 15, 2017.
“Attracting international researchers and scholars to Canada is critical as we build a prosperous country and grow the middle class. These efforts will ensure the next generation of students learns from the world’s brightest talent, so they have the knowledge and skills for the jobs of tomorrow. My message to the researchers of the world: We are hiring.”
—The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science
“We are proud to support talented researchers whose hard work will contribute to advances in research, and further strengthen Canada’s reputation for research excellence, during Canada’s 150th anniversary and beyond.”
—Ted Hewitt, President, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and Chair, Canada Research Chairs Program Steering Committee.
